  • CIMP Graduation on 2 Dec 2005

Graduation was last week, this post is kind of late due to some physical problems.... Anyway, last friday was a sad  and a happy day. Sad because it will be the last time i will be with all my friends together as some will be heading back to their hometowns and as they all futher their studies.

It is a happy day because we are all graduating and to top it up, i am the valedictorian for this semester. I was scared at the bigining when i found out that i needed to give a speech, because i dont really like standing infront of many people and talking to them. Now i have to give a speech to 200+ gradauates and their parents!

Well thank God that the speech went well (i think). Here is the speech i wrote for graduation :

Valedictorian Speech CIMP, Sunway University College, 2nd December 2005

A very Good afternoon to His Excellency Mr. David Summers, the Canadian High Commissioner, Puan Sri Dr. Susan Cheah, Mr. Lee Weng Keng, Miss Elizabeth Lee, Dr. Khatijah Khalid, Mr. William McGarvie, lecturers, parents and my fellow graduates. We stand, gathered together to celebrate the accomplishments of CIMP graduates of July-Dec 2005.  All our hard work has finally paid off. We are graduating today, but graduation is not the end, it's only the beginning. It is a great honor to be able to represent all of you as the valedictorian.

In the beginning, there were many doors in front of me and I am happy and glad that I chose the door that led to CIMP. Behind this door were a great many other doors, each leading to different paths and experiences. What lay before me was unknown. Looking back now, it has been a wonderful journey for me, for I have learnt much. My fellow graduates, the experiences that we have gained here, will be a guide to us in our future undertakings. We have not just leant to be good exam takers; we have learnt to be well rounded individuals.

This journey could not have been possible without the support and encouragement from our parents, lecturers, friends and families. On behalf of the graduating class, I would like to say A BIG thank you to all of you. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank my peers and friends in CIMP for making this journey a memorable one.

One interesting part of the journey through CIMP was the door that exposed us to community activities. This semester, the focus was on the Selangor Cheshire Home which is a home for the handicapped and disabled. Together students and lecturers worked hard to organize and run a week long food sale to collect funds for the home. On the 23rd of August the residents of the Selangor Cheshire Home visited the Sunway University College where a forum entitled “overcoming challenges” was held. The 10 hours of community service required to graduate this programme is a very good course component, because through these activities, we were able to develop our people skills and become more aware of what is actually happening in our community outside our comfort zone.

After today, all of us will be heading our own ways to continue on with this journey of life. We all will be graduating with a diploma today. This diploma is just a stepping stone to the future career decisions we will have to make. Learning is a life long process which will never end. We must always strive for more knowledge and never be content with what we have.

Today, we stand, as if before a row of thousands of doors, each door different from another, each potent with opportunities for every one of us. We must try all these doors, opening them to look at what lies within. We should pass through these doors with an open mind. Sometimes some doors may be shut, but we cannot be discouraged. Instead, we must look forward to the opening of other doors. We must always seize our future and tirelessly strive towards excellence. "It is clear the future holds great opportunities. It also holds pitfalls. The trick will be to avoid the pitfalls, seize the opportunities, and get back home by six o'clock."

Last but not least I would like to thank God for his abundant blessings and would like to wish all graduates the very best in their future undertakings. May all your dreams and wishes come true. To quote Confucius  "Wherever you go, go with all your heart." And all the doors will be opened unto you.

Thank you and God bless all of You.

There are so many things that i will miss in college:

Mr. Tan's IDC class where we laugh and talk most of the class, with very little writing :)

All my friends,  these are the peopl who you can talk to and get advise, laugh together, play cards :P

    All the lecturers.

I just wished my mum was still around to see me graduate. But i should be happy to know that she is watching over me from heaven and rejoicing too.

  • A CRAZY day

Today(Thursday) was one crazy day. The day started out badly as it took me 2 hours to reach to college, which resulted in me being late for call by 45 mins. whay did i take so long? thanks to teh LDP which suprisingly had a  stalled car on one lane and a major accident at the puchong flyover, brought in all the excitement to begin the day with. One thing i learnt from this experience is PATIENCE..... this is one thing u really need and it helps you in situations like this. Well i came late for my first class and i looked so lost in it.

college was fine today adn i didnt have one calss as the teacher was sick and absent.Tonight was the Sunway Ball, which was held at the sunway lagoon resort hotel. I was looking forward to it. Left the house early only to end up in another JAM! Twice in a day! how much more can a person get. this time there was a trailer stalled on the cable bridge. because of this the traffic got conjested right untill before the sunway toll . there went another half an hour. Finally reached the hostel areaat 7.15. i thought i was late, as we were supposed to meet up at 7. but some of them were still not ready yet. so the few of us were waiting outside and we even arranged ourselfves and formed the word LATE!

finally reached the ball at 8.the ball was fun. had Paht phabes as the Emcee, and Jacklyn Victor, the winner from Malaysian Idol there as the major entertainors. Will add some pictures here when i get them from  Tseng Yang. On the way back was the best, there was no traffic! How wonderful!

was listening to the raido about the new rules on driving and all. i still wonder wether that will change the situation on the roads in malaysia.raising the age from 16 to 17 for the motocycle licence, will that stop reckelss motocyclist? i still doubt that will have a drastic change

time to sleep. need to be up by 5.30am

  • okay its the holidays again( mid-semester break). so what do i have to do during this weeks break but post a entry here... due to some persuasive people(u know who u all are!) :)....well today was quite a quiet day... was busy cleaning up my room and a few other stufff....while cleaning the room, found a scrapbook my brother did when he was in form 1. and the title was " selasih keluarga". noramlly i would just stack the book up again but this time i had to see what was in it.... There i found it divided into sections..for my parent, me and my grandparents. I had to read what he wrote about me.. there he starts with where and when i was born. then the funny part come is..in 1989 when i was 2 years old, i dont know how or why, i put a 1 sen coin into my nose, and it got stuck there. Had to go to the doctors to get it removed...I wonder what was i thinking or trying to do? well i learnt u are NOT supposed to put coins in ur nose the "hard" way. these brought back some crazy memories of my childhood days, some were stupid and some crazy too.

wow time passes real fast now days......it already september..the begining of the seasons for exams and all..soon it will be december and then the year ends. and another begins. how time passes.
